Basil M. Michaels , M.D., FACS

Dr. Michaels was educated in New York City, taking a undergraduate degree in psychology from Columbia College. He went on to The College of Physicians and Surgeons at Columbia University for his medical degree. He began his residency training in General Surgery at NYU-Bellevue and completed the five year residency as Chief resident in 1993. During that residency he also completed a research fellowship at the Bogart Laboratory in Bellevue Hospital studying microsurgery and wound healing.

After General Surgery, Dr. Michaels moved to Boston’s Brigham/Children’s/Harvard Plastic Surgery program for two additional years. The beauty and culture in Berkshire County then enticed him, and he began his practice in plastic surgery. He founded Berkshire Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Center which was approved by the American Association for the Accreditation of Ambulatory Surgical Facilities in 1999 and the Federal Government (HCFA) in 2000. Dr. Michaels is certified by The American Board of Plastic Surgery. He is also a fellow of the American College of Surgeons. He has particular interests in cosmetic surgery,  breast reconstruction and skin cancer treatment.

Dr. Michaels is the President of the Berkshire District of the Massachusetts Medical Society, where he is also on the board of trustees. At the federal level he is the Massachusetts representative at the State Council for the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

Vanessa Buffoni

Vanessa joined Berkshire Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery Center in the spring of 2014. She completed her certificate program in medical assisting at Mildred Elley. She has a background working in family practice and with ENT specialists.

Jennifer Lussier

Medical Biller

Jennifer joined Berkshire Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery Center in 2015. She completed her certificate program in Medical Assisting from Ashworth College in 2011. She currently serves as Medical Biller. Jennifer enjoys spending time family and friends, swimming and travel.

Ruth Lennon, RN

Operating Room Nurse

Ruth Lennon,RN has been with Berkshire Cosmetic And Reconstructive Surgery Center for 6 years. Her professional experience includes wound care nursing, infection control administrator and floor nursing on both surgical and medical floors. She is an avid traveler and enjoys spending time with her family.

Ashleigh Doyle

Medical Assistant Ashleigh joined Berkshire Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery Center in 2019.  She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Westfield State University in 2016. She worked as a veterinary technician for 7 years prior to joining the staff. She enjoys hiking with her husband, daughter and dog, and spending time with friends.

Kate Penna

Medical Assistant Kate joined our office in October 2021. She graduated Mildred Elly from the medical assistant program is September 2021.  She is very compassionate and caring and is an asset to BCRSC. When Kate is working, she spends quality time with her son Ben along with friends and family.

Maria Melendez

Maria is a certified operating room technician. She joined BCRSC in 2022 after graduating from McCann technical school. Maria has a passion for helping and caring for people. She loves to spend quality time with her friends and family and loves to travel.

Cindy Shuttleworth

Medical Biller

Cindy, bring years of experience in customer service and patient care. She joined our practice in 2021.  Cindy resides in Pittsfield with her significant other and her children. She enjoys quality time with her family and engaging in outdoor activities along with traveling.

Pam DeCelles

Office Manager

Pam has been with BCRSC since May 2001. Pam started as the office receptionist and is now the Office Manager and is also responsible for all surgical and office scheduling.

Gail E Brown, LCA

Licensed Clinical Aesthetician

Gail E. Brown is licensed as a Clinical Aesthetician in Massachusetts and New York. Gail has been working at Berkshire Cosmetic & Reconstructive Surgery Center since 1998. She is certified in micro-dermabrasion and by Candela Corporation for clinical use of lasers. A graduate of the Christine Valmy International School for Esthetics in New York, she is an active member of the Society of Plastic Surgery Skin Care Specialists. Gail has a passion for skincare and beauty. She enjoys helping people feel and look their best. Gail was born and raised in Berkshire County and resides in Hinsdale, Massachusetts with her husband Devon. She enjoys spending time with her two sons Devon Jr. and Dalton.

Cassandra Lane, FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner

Cassandra Lane is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner.  She graduated from Maria College in 2010 and worked the majority of her 10 years as a registered nurse in critical care and emergency medicine. She obtained her Master’s in Nursing from Frontier Nursing University and has been a part of the Berkshire Cosmetic and Reconstructive Surgery team since 2021. Cassandra is passionate about not only treatment but also prevention of skin cancer and specializes in thorough skin exams. She is skilled at cutaneous surgery, which includes surgical biopsies, cyst excisions, and benign lesion removal. Cassandra prides herself on her ability to formulate long-lasting relationships with patients and feels honored to treat patients of all generations. She works under the supervision of  Dr. Michaels.

Halley Robitaille, FNP-C

Family Nurse Practitioner

Halley Robitaille is a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner who was born and raised in our beautiful Berkshires. She graduated from Berkshire Community College with her associate in nursing. She then went on to obtain her RN to BSN through the University of Phoenix and later graduated from Chamberlain College of Nursing with her FNP.

Halley works under the direct supervision of Dr. Michaels. She specializes in skin cancer screening and is a certified Neurotoxin injector. Halley values a healthy lifestyle. She integrates this into her own life by prioritizing physical activity, nutrition, and connectivity. Halley understands the importance of attending to all facets of ourselves in order to optimize well-being.
